Stock plants
Fundamental to our work
The plants in our nursery garden are the stock plants used for propagation to produce the plants available for sale. These ‘parent plants’ are obtained either by exchanges (seeds or cuttings) or by collecting from the wild. Studying these plants allows us to better understand them and the detailed descriptions you’ll find on this website and in our catalogue are just one of the results. These same plants also act as our ‘models’ for all the photographs.
In most cases they are grown outside in conditions close to those of your own garden. Some of the salvia however, because of their geographical origins, are container grown and some, though not all, are kept frost free.
